Why does my can of treacle have a “throw by” date that is so soon?

I have Tate & Lyle’s Treacle in my store. I noticed that it says to “Dispose of on expiration date”. But its just sugar, how bad can it get? Is it a reaction with the metal canister it comes in? and if so can i just re-package it and sell it again? Any advice would be appreciated
Treacle is a type of molases they sell in england.

I have a glass jar of treacle/molasses that I have had for over 10 years. If you are concerned about the can, transfer it to a jar. I have moved several times but always take my jar of treacle, wrapped in a zip-loc. When I make biscuits, I like to put a bit of treacle on it. It does taste stronger than before but I’m not really concerned about spoilage. If you notice mold on top, toss it, otherwise….
